Bara superintendent of police Hemanta Pal identified the dead as Hare Ram Yadav. A worker Kebal Raut, an employee of Surya Nepal, was killed when the police opened fire on agitating workers yesterday. Industries have remained closed here due to a general strike called by workers associated with trade unions of the UML, CPN-Maoist and the Nepali Congress. Vehicles have remained off the roads and markets remained shut due to the ongoing strike.

Meanwhile, a meeting of industrialists and traders of Rautahat, Bara and Parsa districts took six decisions today. The meeting decided to close industries on the Bara-Parsa corridor till the government puts in place fool-proof security arrangements for all industries. The meeting concluded that it was unjustifiable on the part of workers and their organisations to shut industries.

The meeting also decided not to provide salaries and other benefits to the workers during this period of closure.
