Nation under protests
PARSA: Various workers institutions on Wednesday called protest programmes throughout the nation against the misbehaviour by Karima Begam, State Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives with Durga Prashad Bhandari, CDO of Parsa.
Nepal Civil Servants Association and National Workers Federation demanded that Begam be relieved of her post.
They had also called a gherao programme in Singha Durbar and Home Ministry as a part of their protest.
The neighbouring district of Sharlahi has announced a chakka jam in Hariban in support of the protest, which halted transportation in the area.
The protesters said that until the PM did not intervene in this matter their protest would be indefinite.
Earlier Begam slapped Chief District Officer Bhandari for providing her with an old vehicle without a police escort at his office in Birgunj, Parsa on Tuesday.
Following the incident, the personnel of the District Administration Office (DAO) Parsa disrupted office since yesterday.
Begam is in her hometown Parsa to participate in the programme organised by District Education Office.
However, justifying her misbehaviour with Bhandari she said that she assaulted him because he had shown disrespect to her only because she belongs to a Madhesi minority.
