One shot dead

BIRGUNJ: An unidentified group shot dead a person near Bhagawati Rice Mill in Chhapkaiya of Birgunj Sub-Metropolis-4. on Monday evening. According to Narayan Agrawal, an eyewitness, a group of five persons had shot at the victim. The deceased, who received bullets on his head, is yet to be identified. Rajendraman Shrestha, DSP, District Police Office Parsa, said that investigation was underway. The police have also collected a pistol and three bullets from the spot. The body has been sent to Narayani Regional Hospital for autopsy.

DANG: CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal today said that civilian supremacy would be established only after drafting the new constitution. Inaugurating the sixth district conference of the party in Salyan, he claimed that the political parties would strike an agreement within a few days. Stating that the constitution would not be drafted by excluding any party, he said, "There is no alternative to agreement." He also said UML was trying to forge consensus with other parties. Pointing at NC and the Maoists, he said their bid to institutionalise loktantra was ridiculous as they were unable to hold their party's conference.
