3 held with tiger hide

NARAYANGARH: Police on Sunday detained three persons alleged to be involved in smuggling tiger's skin. The detained have been identified as Santosh Gurung, 48, of Gorkha, Ram Gurung, 36, of Tanahun and Chinimaya Tamang, 54, of Gaidakot. The police found hide and bones of a tiger from Gurung's room. Gurung has been living in a rented room in Bharatpur Municipality-10. The police handed over the hide and bones to the District Forest Office, Chitwan. However, the main accused named Shiva has been absconding. The police said that further investigation was underway.

Bandh puts off CC

KATHMANDU: Owing to the Nepal bandh called by UCPN-Maoist, the Constitutional Council meeting scheduled for Sunday has been postponed for Monday. A CC member said that CC has been making preparations to fill vacancies in several constitutional bodies -Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Election Commission (EC), Public Service Commission (PSC) and Auditor General. The member said that former secretaries Umesh Mainali, Udaya Nepali Shrestha and Shreekanta Regmi could be appointed in the constitutional bodies.

Neighbour killed

SARLAHI: A woman lost her life after a dispute between neighbours took a nasty turn here at Pipariya VDC-2 in the district on Saturday night. The deceased is Sabitadevi Singh Danuwar, 30, a resident of Mahottari's Jamuniya. She had come at her maternal home. According to PI Lalbabu Shah, a group of around eight people led by next-door neighbour Fekan Raya Yadav booted her at around 9 pm. She died instantly. The dispute ensued over a child's defecation near the neighbour's house. The police said they arrested Shiwadevi Yadav in connection with the muder. But other accused are at large.
