Ire over Begam ceases

BIRGUNJ: Civil Servants, who were on an indefinite strike demanding action against the State Minister Karima Begam, called off their protest programme on Monday. The civil servants had agreed to withdraw their protest programme after making two-point agreement with the representatives of the political parties. The meeting held between the representatives of the civil servants and the political parties agreed that the incident was deplorable and they also agreed to provide compensation to the victim. A source said that the civil servants would also felicitate erstwhile CDO Bhandari.

Melamchi padlock on

MELAMCHI: The branch office of the Melamchi Water Supply Project at Melamchi of Sindhupalchowk district has been padlocked for months. Muskan Sena Party had padlocked the office since August.Chairman of Muskan Sena Party, Muskan Poudel, said the office was padlocked demanding the ouster of executive director Gajendra Kumar Thakur, implementation of 9-point agreement and employment opportunities to the youths from affected VDCs. He warned of further action if their demands were unheard.
