Fresh survey to check if grant list missed any quake-hit

KATHMANDU: The National Reconstruction Authority has decided to do another survey in order to address complaints that many quake-affected were missed in the list of households eligible to receive the reconstruction grant.

A meeting of the NRA Steering Committee held in Singha Durbar on Monday decided the same, informed PM's Secretariat.

Meanwhile, the meeting also decided to make a recommendation to the Cabinet to make provisions for mobilisation and control of the Reconstruction Fund at the earliest.

The meeting formed a committee chaired by Chief Secretary Som Lal Subedi and comprising of secretaries of various ministries to mobilise the Reconstruction Fund.

Prime Minister has given a week to the committee to come up with the draft, the NRA Chief Executive Officer Govinda Raj Pokharel told the Rastriya Samachar Samiti.

"Even after 21 months of the 2015 earthquake that rattled Nepal, people are still living in tents. My concern is about providing them shelter by completing the post-quake reconstruction works on time," PM said during the meeting.

"We should not be late anymore."
