Nawalparasi schools shut

Nawalparasi, January 24:

All the educational

institutions in Nawalparasi district remained closed today at the call of Nepal University Teachers’ Association, Nawalparasi and Nepal Teachers’ Union. The bandh was called to protest the arrest of a professor, a teacher and a student leader from the district a few days ago.

They have demanded that the government unconditionally release all the arrested persons.

Police had arrested Kailash Thakur, campus chief of the Pali Campus at Parasi, Radheshyam Pathak, a teacher of the Adarsha Secondary School at Parasi and Naresh Mani Bhattarai, district president of the Nepal Students’ Union, a few days ago. Pathak is also the district president of the Nepal Trade Union Congress.
