Nawalpur youths burn Ncell SIM cards in protest

KAWASOTI: Youths in Nawalpur district today set Ncell SIM cards on fire in a bid to pressurise the private telecom service provider to submit applicable Capital Gains Tax (CGT) to the government.

The government had ordered Ncell to deposit Rs 39.06 billion as applicable capital gains tax on the Ncell buyout deal with its Malaysian-based parent company Axiata.

Ncell had already paid Rs 23.57 billion as CGT and late fee.

During the protest in Kawasoti, district headquarters, social activists declared to boycott Ncell services until it deposited CGT to the government.

In the presence of local social activist, Kiran Bhurtel, youths burnt Ncell SIM cards and other related documents declaring not to use the Ncell service.

Similarly, youths in other places have also launched a campaign to boycott Ncell service.
