NBA submits memo to govt

Kathmandu, October 4:

Demanding protection of independence of the judiciary and security to legal practitioners, the Nepal Bar Association (NBA) submitted a memorandum to the government today.

Stating that the current situation is not favourable to work freely in the judiciary, the NBA submitted the memorandum to the Office of the PMO and Cabinet after PM Koirala did not accept the memorandum citing a busy schedule.

In its five-point memorandum, the NBA has called the government to hold the CA election on November 22 and urged it to maintain law and order to create an environment conducive for the election. “The NBA calls to uphold rule of law, supremacy of constitution, human rights and fundamental rights and to provide security to the judges and the lawyers,” the memorandum signed by NBA general secretary Raman Kumar Shrestha stated.
