NC claims CA veep post
Charikot, November 18:
Nepali Congress vice-president Ram Chandra Poudel today put forth NC’s claim on the vice chairman’s post of the Constituent Assembly and said it would nominate a woman for the post.
Speaking at a press conference organised here today, Poudel hoped that the candidate proposed by his party would get support of all the parties represented in the CA and that it would facilitate the statute-drafting process.
“A parliamentary committee has to be formed before addressing the nine-point demand put forth by our party. Our demand of proportionate representation in the committee formed to adjust Maoist combatants should be met,” Poudel said, adding that the integration will not be legitimate without NC’s participation.
Meanwhile, speaking at another programme, Poudel said the most crucial issue was to draft the constitution at the earliest.
Poudel was inaugurating a seminar on ‘Role of Youths in Constitution making,’ organised
by district chapter of Nepal Students’ Union.
“Youths have major role to play in the constitution-making process,” he added.
A number of NC and NSU leaders also spoke on the occasion.
