NC condemns rape, murder of a minor girl

KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 27

A central committee member of the Nepali Congress, Dila Shangraula, has said the mysterious death after rape of a 12-year-old girl from Masta Rural Municipality-2, in Bajhang district was condemnable.

Issuing a press statement here today, Shangraula said, “I demand the government for immediate arrest of the rapist and stringent action against those involved in this heinous crime.” Preliminary investigation into the case found that the minor was raped and murdered.

Cases of caste-based violence have been on the rise lately across the country. Murder of Nawaraj BK and five others in Rukum Paschim incident last May was glaring example of caste-based violence.

The opposition party said that the government was still unable to identify the culprit of the Nirmala rape-and-murder case. NC has drawn the attention of the incumbent government to the growing level of impunity in the country. International experience has shown how children and women became the first victim of impunity, read the statement.
