NC (D) to pick leader after House Regulation

Kathmandu, January 26:

Nepali Congress (Democratic) has decided to elect its interim parliamentary party leader only after the interim parliament comes up with Regulation governing parliamentary parties in the interim legislature.

This was decided today at the end of the meeting of the Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting of the party.

“We have decided to wait. Of course other parties did not wait for the new Regulation. But that is their case,” said NC (D) Spokesman and Member of Interim Parliament Dr Minendra Rijal while talking with The Himalayan Times.

He stressed the need to amend the Parliamentary Party Statute of the party once the Interim Parliament Regulation is passed by interim parliament once it convenes in the next few days. The first meeting of the NC (D) Interim Parliamentary Party which was held on Tuesday had formed a panel headed by party chief whip to suggest necessary changes in the parliamentary party statute.

The next meeting of NC (D) CWC will be held on Sunday with the agenda being how to go about to resolve the latest political crisis thrown up by Terai turmoil. Those who put forth their analysis include party General Secretary Bimalendra Nidhi and Bijay Kumar Gachchadar, among others.
