NC lawmakers for panel to monitor govt
KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress lawmakers today urged the party to form a committee to regularly monitor the activities of all government ministries and do the needful to make them more effective.
Nabindra Raj Joshi, Dhana Raj Gurung and other lawmakers of the party put forth the demand during the meeting of NC's Parliamentary Party working committee. However, the meeting did not take any decision on their demand.
The meeting expressed serious concern about the growing criminal activities and impunity in the country. It also asked the government to take serious measures to curb such unlawful activities. The meeting seriously condemned the brutal murder of Khyati Shrestha and the attack on Minister of State for Energy Chandra Singh Bhattarai. It also asked the government to bring the culprits to book.
"The working committee meeting of the PP also decided to intensify discussions and interactions to give inputs to the new constitution as per the globally accepted democratic values," said party whip Sobhakar Parajuli, after the meeting.
The meeting also endorsed the decision to form subjective committees to help the statute-drafting process.
The working committee meeting also decided to hold the PP meeting tomorrow. The meeting will appoint deputy leader of the PP, to be proposed by PP leader Ram Chandra Paudel as per the PP statute.
According to NC sources, party vice-president Prakash Man Singh is likely to be appointed to the post.
