NC leader Shekhar Koirala stresses need for holding general convention soon
CHITWAN: Nepali Congress leader Shekhar Koirala has said it is time to organise the party's general convention as soon as possible as the party's Jagaran (awareness) campaign has resulted further energy boost among the cadres.
During the conversation with journalists in Chitwan, Koirala highlighted the need of organising general conventions of party student wing Nepal Student Union and other wings such as Tarun Dal, Women Association and Dalit Association on time to increase the party presence among the public and take the level of restored energy to a new height.
Koirala strongly raised concerns regarding the sorry condition of the party at present, adding that the status quo could no more guide the party. "Let's elect the leadership on time,” he voiced.
He spoke about the need for speaking against any effort aimed at suppressing the freedom of opinion and expression. "People's right to freedom of expression was not squeezed even during the Panchayat regime", he added.
"The time demands the party to raise voices in favour of the people". It is high time that we hit the street and parliament.
