NC leaders flay Maoists

Tanahun, October 25:

Nepali Congress leaders today came down heavily on the Maoist leadership and blamed them for the the political deadlock.

They also said it was the Maoist that led to deferral of the election to constituent assembly.

Senior Nepali Congress vice president and Minister for Peace and Reconstruction, Ram Chandra Poudel, said it is irresponsible on the part of the Maoists raise newer issues and threaten to quit parliament after joining the parliamentary politics. He said this today at a programme organised here to mark the Vijaya Dashami.

The government was forced to defer constituent assembly polls as it could not oppose on time the proposals forwarded by the CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist, he said.

Central member of Nepali Congress Govinda Raj Joshi said the present political deadlock was because the government tried to take along Maoists.

Another Nepali Congress central member, Amar Raj Kaini, said Nepali Congress cadres should move ahead by overlooking the past mistakes. “The parliamentarians who have reached the parliament through the strength of guns do not have the mandate of the people to make important national decisions,” he said.
