NC-led govt in the offing, claim ruling parties
Kathmandu, February 28
Parties within the CPN-UML-led coalition government have been claiming that formation of national consensus government under the Nepali Congress was in the offing.
One of the major coalition partners of the KP Sharma Ol-led government Unified CPN-Maoist spokesperson Dinanath Sharma said Nepali Congress led government would be formed soon after the National General Convention of the NC concludes.
Sharma also said the NC led national consensus government would also include agitating Madhes based parties and CPN-UML among others.
In a similar tone Chairman of Nepal Workers and Peasants Party Narayan Man Bijukchhe today said the NC led government would be formed following the NC General Convention.
Addressing an interaction at Bhaktapur today Bijukchhe, whose party supports Oli-led government, charged that Prime Minister Oli’s India visit could not strengthen ties with India.
He further claimed that CPN-UML would also join the NC-led government besides the agitating Madhesi parties and UCPN-M.
Bijukchhe said the local elections would help resolve most of the problems of Madhesi and indigenous people and therefore the election should be held as soon as possible.
He further said working alliance of Rastriya Prajatantra Party, UCPN-M and Madhes based parties might happen if the local elections were held soon.
UCPN-M Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has also been saying time and again that national consensus government was the need of the hour to strengthen unity among the parties and lead the nation towards prosperity.
He said the national consensus government including agitating Madhes-based parties would help strengthen the unity among the parties and deal with the challenges of reconstruction.
Dahal has been claiming that both NC and UML could lead the new government and he was not willing to become Prime Minister.
He also said that PM’s India visit had failed to make a difference in Indo-Nepal relations.
