Nepali Congress leader attacked in Baitadi

BAITADI: Nepali Congress leader Ishwar Datta Bhatta, who aspires to run for the Mayor of Melauli Municipality, was attacked on Thursday night in the district.

Unidentified assailants thrashed Bhatta at around 11 pm when he was sleeping at Star Guest House  in Gothalapani, NC district treasurer Ramesh Pandeya said.

Bhatta has bruises all over his body due to the thrashing and his left knee cap is broken. He also has wounds in the chest and eyes, according to the District Hospital Baitadi sources.

Bhatta has been taken to Nepalganj from the District hospital for further treatment.

Police arrested two persons from Shivanath Rural Municipality on the charge of attacking Bhatta.
