NC to closely watch govt activities

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party (PP) is preparing to form various parliamentary committees to look into matters in all the ministries of the government.

“The committees, to be represented by the party’s Constituent Assembly members, will effectively and closely report the PP about the affairs of all the ministries. The PP is preparing to form the committees within a week,” said Nabindra Raj Joshi, PP spokesperson, NC. It will help the party to review the government’s affairs closely, he said.

The PP is preparing to form the committees in the wake of widespread dissatisfaction within the NC about the effectiveness of running the ministries headed by the party. Party’s lawmakers and leaders have been expressing dissatisfaction over the performance of the ministries handled by the NC and are miffed at the unilateral way of running the government by the CPN-UML.

Meanwhile, NC Central Committee (CC) will meet at its party headquarters in Sanepa tomorrow. Fixing new date of the party’s 12th General Convention, which is going to be postponed for the third time, will be the CC’s main agenda according to party sources. The GC was supposed to be convened in March, but the party has announced its inability to hold the GC on time as it could not complete preparatory works for the same. Leaders are divided over fixing the date in May or June.
