NC will not join govt, says Deuba

Dhangadhi, March 27:

Nepali Congress leader Sher Bahadur Deuba today said his party will not join the Maoist-led government.

Inaugurating the second national women’s gathering of Nepal Tarun Dal (NTD) in Dhangadhi, he said the NC would not join the government at a time when even the CPN-UML cadres were being thrashed by the Maoists.

“There will not be any kind of cooperation with the Maoists until they implement the NC’s seven-point demand,” he said, adding “The NC would not cooperate with the Maoists except on the issue of drafting the new constitution. It’s not necessary for the NC to join the government for the sake of Maoists.”

NTD’s central chairman Mahendra Yadav said his organisation was ready to fight to safeguard democracy. NTD women’s department chairperson Saraswati Tiwari chaired the function.
