DHARAN: Nepal Communist Party’s Jivanraj Subedi won the post of chair of Ward No 7 at Sunsari’s Dharan sub-metropolis with a margin of just one vote.
Subedi defeated Nepali Congress’ candidate Subarna Mohan Palikhe with just a vote. Subedi garnered 622 votes while his rival Palikhe earned 621 votes.
NC had demanded re-counting of the votes. But, Subedi was declared winner after the two parties agreed. Chief Election Officer Radhakrishna Upreti administered oath of office and secrecy to newly-elected Mayor Tilak Rai and ward Chair Subedi on Monday.
