'NCs armed youth wing in offing'

RAUTAHAT: Nepali Congress leader Khum Bahadur Khadka today said that his party was planning to form armed youth wing to combat the anarchic activities of the UCPN-Maoist.

Speaking at a mass meet at Janajyoti Multiple Campus, Khadka said, “The NC felt that an armed youth wing against them was necessary as the Maoists’ high-handedness is on the rise lately.” Accusing that the UCPN-Maoist came to power through violence, he added, “The Maoists are attempting to impose totalitarian rule in the country.’’

He also claimed that the NC had brought the Maoists to the centre stage of politics. “NC President Girija Prasad Koirala has a significant contribution in this regard,” he added.

Stating that the Maoist had not stopped attacking the cadres of rival parties and seizing public lands and property, he added, “The Maoist cadres are creating anarchy in the country.’’ He also urged all the democratic forces to be together and stand against the Maoists as they were breaching the 12-point agreement.

Khadka also expressed surprise as Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum chairman Upendra Yadav now began talking about the Madhes although he forgot the issue while he was in the government in the past.

Reiterating his party’s support to the present coalition, he said, “Prachanda and GPK had only agreed to form a high-level mechanism to break the present deadlock in Singapore.”
