NBA concludes its 44th AGM

The 44th Annual General Meeting of the Executive Council of Nepal Bar Association concluded with a 14-point Pokhara declaration in Kaski on Sunday.
The declaration demanded proper representation of law practitioners and their inclusion while appointing judges.
Discussing on the paper presented by the council’s general secretary Khamma Bahadur Khati, the meet concluded that there were no clear criteria or bases for appointing high court judges.
“Women, Dalit, ethnic, indigenous and marginalised communities have not been included while appointing judges. The appointment should be proportional and inclusive,” said participants.
Chief Justice and Chairperson of the Judiciary Council Shushila Karki said Nepal Bar Association and judges were inter-dependent.
Sher Bahadur KC, chairperson of Nepal Bar Association, highlighted the importance of the Bar ib bringing reforms in the country’s judiciary.
