Nepal-France Friendship Society established

Kathmandu, August 27

With the aim of enhancing cooperation between Nepal and France, an organisation called Nepal-France Friendship Society has been set up in Kathmandu today.

French Ambassador to Nepal Yves Carmona witnessed the inauguration of the society, which will have its offices in Paris and Kathmandu.

Society’s Chairman Binod Khakurel said the organisation was set up with the objective of exploring cooperation opportunities between Nepal and France as well as supporting and connecting culture, people and art and literature of the two countries.

French Ambassador Carmona said he would be happy to support the constructive initiatives of the society towards enhancing France-Nepal relations.

Former Ambassador of Nepal to France Indra Bahadur Singh, Chairperson of French Centre in Kathmandu, and Chairman of the Association of Nepal-France Industries and Chamber of Commerce Shyam Mohan Shrestha highlighted various aspects of Nepal-France ties in the programme.

During the occasion, an eleven member Nepal-France Media Forum was also set.
