Nepal-India meet on land today

New Delhi, August 29:

Land measurement officials of India and Nepal will hold a meeting tomorrow in Deh-radun of Uttaranchal state. The Nepalese team will be led by land measurement deputy director Rajaram Chutki.

The Nepalese embassy here said aside from officials of the land measurement department, those of the Home Ministry, Foreign Affairs Ministry, Defence Ministry and embassy would also attend the meeting that will go on till Friday. The meeting comes in the wake of the meeting held earlier between the land measurement department joint secretary level officials of the two countries.

A Nepalese embassy official said the two sides will compare the maps that they have prepared and decide on giving a final shape to the documents. In case of a lack of consensus, a meeting of higher level officials will be held to sort out the differences. Earlier, the 21st meeting of the joint technical committee held here decided to exchange information, details and documents about the Gandak river, its topography and length and also the Mahakali river flowing through Kalapani.
