Nepal, India talks on Gandak today

Bilateral talks between Nepal and India are scheduled for tomorrow at Balmikinagar of Nawalparasi to seek a way out of the problem of the victims of Gandak barrage in Nawalparasi.

Nawalparasi Chief District Officer Govinda Khanal is leading the Nepali team while the

District Magistrates of Champaran in Bihar and Maharajgunj in Uttar Pradesh are representing the Indian side.

Putting forward their 21-point demand, the flood victims have been staging a sit-in in the middle of the eastern Gandak canal that goes to India for over a month. The representatives of the flood victims would also sit in the talks, Chief District Officer Khanal said.

Technical teams of both the countries will also take part in the dialogue. Flood victims have been demanding compensatation from India.
