282 kg hashish, 25 kg marijuana seized from truck at Muglin

CHITWAN: Police confiscated 282 kg hashish and 25 kg marijuana from a truck at Muglin of Chitwan district and arrested its driver on Tuesday.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of security personnel from the Muglin Area Police Office intercepted the truck (Na 3 Kha 6352), heading to Muglin from Dhading, and seized 14 sacks of contraband.

This is possibly the biggest haul of the hashish and marijuana the Chitwan District Police has made, according to DSP Basanta Bahadur Kunwar at the DPO.

Police identified the truck driver as Driver Kumar Gole (30) of Namtaar in Makawanpur district.

Police said they are looking for a person who they believed was smuggling the drugs.

Meanwhile, in another case, police arrested have two persons in possession of 25 kg marijuana from eastern Chitwan.

The suspects are identified as Jeevaraj Blon (28) of Handikhola and Dipak Lama (39) of Hetaunda. They were travelling on a bus (Na 5 Kha 3503) to Kathmandu from Biratnagar when police arrested them.

Bus driver Ishwor Aryal (23) of Hetaunda has also been taken in custody.
