Nepal presented clear views in New Delhi: Minister Mahat

WASHINGTON DC: Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat today stated that Nepal has presented its views clearly during Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal's recent visit to India.

Addressing an interaction programme organised by Janasamparka Samiti America in Washington DC today, Minister Mahat said, "During India visit, we put forth several issues in a way to serve the interests of Nepal and Nepali people. It has added new dimension to the Nepal-India relations".

"The visit has offered an opportunity to clarify several bilateral issues between Nepal and India . Nepal has presented its stance on bilateral interests, cooperation and collaborations", he added.

"Nepal's both close neighbours -- China and India -- have their own peculiar characteristics. In keeping with the sensitivities, Nepal would determine its foreign affairs policy on the basis of equal treatment, " Mahat further clarified.

"It was wrong to state that India denied welcoming the Constitution of Nepal," clarified Mahat adding, Indian side has presented its clear opinion on the matter of constitution featured in the joint statement during PM's India visit.

He asked the Nepali Diaspora in the US to work remembering the motherland while assuring them to formulate strategy to capitalize their knowledge and skills for the development of Nepal.

Janasamparka Samiti US President Ananda Bista, Organization Department Chief Bed Prasad Kharel, Prabasi Munch Chairperson Sanjaya Thapa and Dr Anga Raj Timilsina, among others were present in the programme.
