Nepal tourism promoted in Hong Kong

KATHMANDU: Potential of Nepal tourism was promoted in an international expo concluded in Hong Kong recently.

The 30th International Travel Expo (ITE) and 11th MICE Expo was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre of Hong Kong on June 16-19.

About 90,000 visitors visited various stalls from countries around the world including Nepal, according to a statement issued by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).

The Expo, participated by 50 countries, offered a platform to promote tourism and their prospects to the global travel market.

The NTB and the Nepal Airlines Corporation along with the travel companies like Crystal Adventures (P) Ltd, Fast International Travels & Tours (P) Ltd and Sunrise International Travel (P) Ltd had represented Nepal in the Expo.

According to the statement, the first two days were dedicated for the trade sector and the remaining two days for the public.

The NTB said many visitors enquired about Nepal, adding that the free visa provision might benefit the tourism sector to evolve even more.

Chairman of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Andrew Jones remarked that there would be boost in number of tourists visiting Nepal after the event.

Similarly, Consul General of Nepal to Hong Kong Kamal Prasad Bhatarai said the Consulate General would make efforts for tourism promotion in Nepal in cooperation with the NTB, the Nepal Airlines Corporation and Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Hong Kong chapter.
