Nepal witnesses 1,176 deaths in road accidents in six months

HETAUDA: As per the statistics revealed by Deputy Inspector General of Police Purna Chandra Joshi, as many as 1,176 persons lost their lives in road accidents during six month of the current fiscal year. Moreover, the total number of accidents that Nepal witnessed from July to January stands at 5,404.

Likewise, traffic directorate reports that Province 3 has witnessed 441 road mishaps that killed 225 persons during the period.

According to Deputy-IGP Joshi, over speeding and negligence of drivers and motorcyclists are major causes behind increasing rate of road accidents and casualties in the country.

“Although traffic authorities are committed to curb the accidents, lack of appropriate technology and human resource crunch has hindered work proceedings,” Joshi shared.
