NSU launches agitation against corruption

Pokhara, January 7

Nepali Congress-aligned Nepal Students Union Prithvinarayan Campus Unit, Pokhara, has started putting up banners at the campus gate and various places of Pokhara in protest against corruption and irregularity in the wide-body aircraft purchase process and also corruption in other government offices from today.

The NSU-aligned students started the campaign of putting up the banner demanding action against the corrupt saying that ministers in the KP Sharma Oli-led government and bureaucrats were involved in embezzling state fund.

Banners with slogans such as ‘Down with corrupt government’; ‘Do not shield the corrupt’ and ‘No entry to the corrupt’ were hung at the gate.

NSU Prithivi Narayan Campus leader Resham Hamal said that they had launched the banner agitation as the incumbent ministers and government officials were involved in corruption. “This agitation is for making people aware of government wrongdoing,” Hamal said.

According to him, banners were put at many places including Bagar Chowk, Prithvi Chowk, among others. NC leader Guru Baral had inaugurated the campaign.

Students alleged that ministers were hell-bent on shielding the corrupt and the government was silent regarding corruption and irregularities to the tune of billions of rupees.

“This is a symbolic agitation. We shall launch a stern protest if the corrupt are not booked,” warned another NSU leader Govind Lamichhane.
