DHANGADI: Nepali Congress candidates Nirpa Bahadur Wad and Sushila Mishra Bhatta have been elected mayor and deputy mayor of the Dhangadi Sub-Metropolitan City respectively.

NC's Wad garnered 14, 324 votes against 11, 527 votes obtained by his closest rival, Gopal Hamal, an independent candidate.

Similarly, Bhatta won the deputy mayoral race with 17, 408 votes. Her nearest contender Rukmini Devkota of CPN-UML received 12, 763 votes.
