NC has to unite, says Deuba

Pokhara, April 12

Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba today said NC had no choice but to unite and move ahead to garner majority in the next polls.

Addressing a programme organised by Nepal Women’s Union Pokhara Metropolitan Committee in the Lake City, Deuba said NC leaders and cadres should be proactive to strengthen the party across the country. “The NC has no choice but to be united to defeat the Nepal Communist Party in the next polls,” Deuba stated. He threatened to punish party leaders and cadres who were unsupportive of their fellow members and worked to bring down the party’s candidates in the last polls.

Deuba accused the incumbent government of failing to accomplish anything on the front of development and prosperity. He flayed the government for inflation, insecurity, rising corruption and violence in the country. “The government has committed various scams like 33 kg gold scam and wide body aircraft scam. It has done nothing to contain malpractices prevalent in every sector of the society,” he added.

Senior NC leader Ramchandra Paudel accused the government of trying to institutionalise corruption and shielding corrupt party leaders and ministers.

He stressed the need to curb corruption and launch awareness campaigns against the social evil in every village. He argued that corruption would endanger democracy and democratic values.
