Nepali Congress leads Constitution implementation: Deuba
POKHARA: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba said his party should and would lead the Constitution implementation process.
Inaugurating the fourth general convention of the party's youth wing, Nepal Tarun Dal, in Pokhara of Kaski today, Deuba said the largest political party had the responsibility to take all parties together towards holding local, provincial and federal polls to ensure enforcement of the statute.
"The Congress' role in consolidation of democracy and implementation of Constitution should be significant," he said, "The world and all Nepalis believe that the Congress only can make democracy successful"
"Therefore, the party should move ahead united."
He directed the party leaders and cadres to strengthen the party organisation so as to ensure the party's best performance at all three levels of elections.
Meanwhile, Deuba said the government was planning to amend the Constitution in a bid to bring agitating Madhesi parties on board the Constitution implementation.
"Let us address concerns of Madhesi parties through the amendment," he demanded, "But the Madhesi parties should also be flexible for it."
Other leaders of the party including Ram Chandra Paudel, Shashanka Koirala, Sita Devi Yadav, Gopal Man Shrestha, Krishna Prasad Sitaula and Bimalendra Nidhi among others had addressed the function.
