Nepali Congress leader lashes out at ex-rebels

DHULIKHEL: Nepali Congress deputy parliamentary party leader Prakashman Singh said that it was hypocritical of the UCPN-Maoist to be talking about people’s supremacy when it was working against the Interim Constitution.

Speaking at a programme organised by the Nepal Students Union to felicitate outstanding SLC graduates in Banepa today, he said that the Maoists

were actually trying to bring an authoritarian rule instead of people’s supremacy.

Singh, who is also the general secretary of the party, claimed that the UCPN-Maoist had worked against the Interim Constituent by obstructing the regular business of the parliament. He added that his party did not support the policies and programmes of the government as it was inclined towards the CPN-UML.

He maintained that his party would also not accept the budget if it failed to include their demands. He also accused the UCPN-Maoist of failing to run the government. Shrestha felicitated different students of the district who had scored outstanding marks in the SLC examinations of 2065.

Central chairman of the Nepal Students Union, Pradip Paudel had also felicitated the students in the programme.
