NC’s Chaulagain leaves candidacy for another

Khotang, May 25

A Nepali Congress leader offered his ticket as candidate of ward chairperson to another person at Dambarkhushivalaya, Jantedhunga Rural Municipality, at a time when scores of people are lobbying with their party leadership seeking candidacy, in Khotang.

The party had offered Nirpa Bahadur Chaulagain, 74, ticket to contest for ward chairperson of Jantedhunga Rural Municipality for the second phase of local level elections slated for June 14. But he offered the candidacy to another aspirant Gyanendra Parajuli saying that youths should be given leadership responsibility. “The party offered me the ticket as an honour to my contribution. I am happy for it. I also led the party organisation for many years. But I thought the new leadership should be offered to youths. Hence, I took the decision,” said Chaulagain.
