Damauli, February 22

Nepali Congress General Secretary Shashanka Koirala today stressed on the need for party leaders to stand united to discourage the communist government from implementing its authoritarian policies.

Addressing a national gathering of district treasurers of the Nepali Congress in Bandipur of Tanahun, Koirala asked party leaders to end intra-party rift and stand united to emerge as the largest party in the next general election.“If the NC leaders cannot stand united even in the face of unification between the then CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist Centre, it will be unfortunate for the country and the people,” he warned.

Koirala said his party had not only laid the foundation of democracy but also foundation of development and prosperity in the country. He accused the incumbent government of failing on all fronts.

At the programme, NC Spokesperson Biswo Prakash Sharma accused the KP Oli-led government of promoting a culture of lying. “The Oli-led government is promoting corruption,” Sharma charged.
