NC puts up a good show

The Nepali Congress has secured the position of the largest party in Rautahat district though results of two local levels are yet to be declared.
Of the 16 local levels whose results have been out, NC has won in eight local levels, with Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal trailing it with victory in three levels. The CPN- Maoist Centre and the Rastriya Janata Party have won two local levels each, while the Nepal Democratic Forum has won only one local unit so far.
As per the declared election results, Nepali Congress’ mayoral candidates Ramchandra Chaudhary, Mahammad Shakil Akhtar, Shekh Wokil, Syambabu Yadav, Gopal Raya Yadav, Dhirendra Singh and Ramsnehi Yadav have made it from Chandrapur, Rajpur, Paroha, Gadhimai, Fatuwa Bijayapur, Rajdevi and Brindaban municipalities respectively. Arun Sah of the party was elected for the mayoral post from Durga Bhagawati Rural Municipality.
Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal’s mayoral candidates Dharmendra Patel, Rabi Ranjan Yadav and Birendra Yadav have been elected from Dewahi Gonahi, Baudhimai and Madhav Narayan municipalities. Similarly, CPN-MC’s mayoral candidates Rina Sah and Shree Prakash Mukhiya Bin have been elected from Maulapur municipality and Yamuna Mai Rural Municipality.
RJP-N’s Ajaya Gupta has won from Gaur Municipality and Santalal Chaudhary from Gujara Municipality. Nepal Democratic Forum Nepal’s Santosh Mehata has achieved victory from Ishanath Municipality.
In the remaining two local levels, FSF-N and CPN-MC are leading the vote count. In Garuda, though FSF-N is leading now, other two parties—UML and NC are giving a tough fight. Similarly, in Katahariya Municipality, CPN-MC is leading the vote count.
