NC set to postpone Maha Samiti meet
Kathmandu, November 5
The Nepali Congress is set to postpone its Maha Samiti meeting until mid-December due to the statute drafting committee’s failure to finalise the draft amendment in time.
A meeting of the NC Central Working Committee slated to convene tomorrow will take a decision to this effect.
The NC CWC had decided to hold the Maha Samiti meeting in Kathmandu from November 21 to 25 to amend its statute in line with the country’s new federal set-up and electoral constituency delineation.
However, before taking the draft amendment to Maha Samiti, it has to be discussed in and approved by the CWC which will take at least a week. “And since the panel has yet to complete the draft, we have no other option but to postpone the Maha Samiti meet,” said NC Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma.
Sharma said had the panel completed its work before Dashain, the CWC discussion could have completed before Tihar and Maha Samiti could have been convened on the stipulated date.
