Nepali Congress starts election campaign from Province No. 7

DHANGADHI: The largest party Nepali Congress started its election campaign from Attariya of Kailali district in far-western Nepal on Sunday, damning the main opposition CPN-UML and communists.

NC President Sher Bahadur, Ram Chandra Deuba, General Secretary Shashank Koirala and Krishna Prasad Sitaula along with other leaders from the region addressed an assembly in the Province No. 7 today.

In his speech, Deuba took a shot at the CPN-UML and its chairman, KP Sharma Oli, saying “the country can’t be built up by idioms and phrases only”.

He claimed that the only Nepali Congress can strengthen unity among all regions, classes and ethnicities.

Paudel and Koirala came down heavily upon the communists.

Communists are elements that promote illusion, Paudel said, adding, “Communists can create problems while Nepali Congress can resolve them.” He held communists responsible for the present conflict between and betwixt people of different communities and regions.

Dubbing communist ideology obsolete, Koirala said people are cognizant of the Nepali Congress’s ideology.

Former General Secretary Sitaula said the Nepali Congress has lent its unconditional support to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal to hold the local level elections.

Minister Ramesh Lekhak, and lawmakers NP Saud, Bir Bahadur Balayar and Badri Pandey among others addressed the function.
