NC will unite all communities, claims Deuba

Dhangadi, April 9

Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba today underscored the need of harmony and unity among ‘the people of mountains, hills and plains’.

Speaking at a programme held at Attariya, Kailali, Deuba said people at the border should be hailed for their patriotism and national unity. “Nobody should carry out any activity that weakens the sovereignty of the country. Nepali Congress has been doing its best possible to strengthen unity among all communities, regions, ethnicities and classes,” he said, adding, “If you elect Nepali Congress candidates in local polls, we will double the allowance for  elderly people.”

Deuba also claimed that his party had a good rapport with the national and international communities. The party’s senior leader Ramchandra Paudel argued that leftist forces were hatching conspiracies to keep the people in illusion. “The leftist forces are creating conflicts among different communities. However, Nepali Congress is the only party that will settle those problems,” the NC leader proclaimed.

Nepali Congress General Secretary Shashank Koirala also added on to Paudel’s statement and said that leftist ideology was outdated. Koirala claimed that there was unity among leaders and activists of the party, while another leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula said that his party was extending unconditional support to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal to hold local level elections.

Sitaula said, “Election is not for leaders. It is for the people. Hence, it should take place at any cost.” NC leaders NP Saud, Ramesh Lekhak, Bir Bahadur Balayar and Badri Pandey, among others, were present at the function.
