Nepali man jailed for extortion in Malaysia
KATHMANDU: A Nepali migrant worker, who illegally entered Malaysia, has been jailed for six months in Kuala Lumpur after he was found guilty of extortion.
According to local media reports, Dirga Ruchal from Nepal worked as a security guard in the Malaysian capital and is convicted of extorting a Filipino woman last month.
Malaysian news portal Bernama reported on Friday that Ruchal was sent to jail on the charge after the verdict from the Magistrate's Court.
Meanwhile, the man also got additional three-month sentence after he pleaded guilty to entering Malaysia without valid travel documents, according to the news report.
He was arrested on June 30.
The court ordered that both sentences run concurrently from the date of arrest.
