Chand-led Maoist cadres arrested with explosives

Police arrested two Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN Maoist cadres for their involvement in anti-poll activities along with explosives from Shivaghat of Bharatpur Metropolitan City in Chitwan today.

The arrested are: Puran Rai and Shankar Gurung of the metropolis. According to SP Dipak Thapa of District Police Office, police seized some explosives, a fake revolver, some electric wire and two pieces of detonators, plastic and a motorcycle among other materials from them.

Police claimed that Rai is the Trade Union in-charge of the Chand-led CPN Maoist for Chitwan, Dhading, Nuwakot and Rasuwa districts, while Gurung is the area in-charge.

Similarly, police have taken as many as 21 others under control in for their involvement in anti-election campaigns. The arrested have been identified as CPN M central members Chairman Krishna Bahadur Pariyar and Bishnu Koirala among others.

Security has been tightened in some sensitive places in the district after CPN M cadres planted petrol bombs in some places, said police.

According SP Thapa, as many as 3,200 Nepali Police and 1,255 temporary police have been deployed. He further informed that the district was divided into 10 packet areas and security had been tightened.
