New amendment proposal will be passed: Minister Nayak

KATHMANDU: Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Ajay Shankar Nayak, has claimed that the new constitution amendment proposal introduced by the government would be passed with consensus of all stakeholders.

Speaking at the Reporters' Club in the capital on Tuesday, Minister Nayak argued that the new amendment proposal was brought with consent of the CPN (UML) and Madhesi Morcha.

"The government has withdrawn the previous constitution amendment proposal.

The new proposal will be tabled in the Parliament on April 20. A concrete consensus has been forged with Madhesi Morcha in this regard. All the demands put forth by them have been addressed."

However, CPN (UML) leader and former Minister Raghubir Mahaseth blamed that the new amendment proposal brought by the government was more dangerous than the previous one.

Likewise, Madhesi Morcha leader Laxman Lal Karna said that the government brought the new amendment proposal without holding discussion with the Morcha.
