New mayors, deputies sworn in

Baglung/Syangja, February 1:

Bidur Khadka, the new mayor of Baglung municipality, who was elected unopposed on Monday, took the oath of office today. Judge of the District Court, Baglung, Karunanidhi Sharma, swore in Khadka as the new mayor.

Khadka, in turn, swore in deputy mayor Narayan Acharya, and the chairman of ward no 1,2 and 3 Ranabahadur Sarki, Bimala Sapkota, and Tikabahadur Khadka respectively. Only five persons have filed their nominations for the posts of mayor, deputy mayor and ward chairman for 57 posts.

In Syangja, the new mayors and deputy mayors of Putalibazzar and Waling municipalities, who were elected unpoosed, were sworn in by the District Court judge, Hariprasad Bagale today.

Chandraprasad Gharti and Buddhasingh Thapa Magar were sworn in as the mayor and the deputy mayor of the Putalibazaar, while Mahesh Kafle and Purnabahadur Thapa were sworn in as the mayor and the deputy mayor of the Waling Municipality.
