NHRC urges govt to ease medicine supply

KATHMANDU: A delegation of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) held an interaction with Health Minister Ram Janam Chaudhary at the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Friday.

The meeting discussed the medicine shortage and health rights issues artificially created following the border blockade imposed by India.

The United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) has been protesting for more than three months in Tarai-Madhes region demanding amendments in the new Constitution including the issue of provincial boundaries.

Subsequently, India imposed the unofficial border blockade after the promulgation of the Constitution on September 20.

While Nepal has been accusing India of imposing an unofficial border blockade, India has been stating that the problems existed due to security problems on the Nepali side.
