NIC gets 6 more months
KATHMANDU: The government on Friday extended the term of National Inclusive Commission (NIC) by sixth months.
As the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers did not pay attention to extend the term of the commission, Minister for Supplies Rajendra Mahato had directly brought the extension proposal to the cabinet. According to an NIC member, the Chief Secretary had lingered the process by not tabling the proposal in the cabinet.
Talking to The Himalayan Times, NIC chairperson Nara Singh Chaudhary said they would complete the task of preparing a report within the extended deadline.
The government formed the commission last year in order to solicit suggestion on ensuring inclusiveness in the state mechanism. It reportedly has not performed any task due to the frequent changes of governments.
