Nidhi for a new constitution
Janakpur, May 6:
Nepali Congress (Democratic) general secretary Bimalendra Nidhi today said that an entirely new constitution should be written. A new statute with old contents has no meaning, he said.
Speaking to journalists here, Nidhi said that people want change in every sector and the people’s wishes and sentiments should be included in the new constitution.
He stressed the need for bringing complete change in the legislative, executive and judicial sectors.
Stating that the constituent assembly (CA) polls were needed to draft a people-friendly constitution, Nidhi said the parties and the people’s representatives would draft the new constitution. The nation is heading for a federal system, proportional election system, the CA polls, stability of democracy and establishment of a republic and nobody will be able to stop the course of its movement, he said.
