Nine injured in separate accidents

Damauli, April 20

Nine persons sustained injuries in two separate accidents in Tanahun on Saturday.

Eight people were injured when a jeep headed towards Adhamara from Bhimad skidded off the road and fell some 15 metres below the road in Tekre of Bhimad Municipality.

Assistant Sub-inspector Top Prasad Bhandari of Bhimad Area Police Office aid the injured were sent to Gandaki Hospital in Pokhara for further treatment after primary treatment at Bhimad Primary Health Centre. Similarly, a motorbike rider was injured when he was hit by a truck in Kamalabari of Byas Municipality. Forty-sixyear-old Arjun Kumar Sharma was riding to Pokhara from Kathmandu when a truck coming from the opposite direction hit him.

Police said they were searching for the truck driver, who was at large.

Road accidents in the country are increasing in recent years mainly due to poor quality of roads and reckless driving.
