NMSP, MJF-R feel betrayed by MJF-D

Kathmandu, October 14

Two constituents of Federal Democratic Alliance — National Madhes Socialist Party and the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Republican — today issued a press release saying that Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Democratic had betrayed them by joining the government.

MJF-D, the third cosntituent of the alliance, joined the KP Sharma Oli led government after striking an eight-point deal with CPN-UML and the Unified CPN-Maoist.

The two parties said the big three parties’ decision to promulgate the new constitution without addressing the concerns of the Madhesi and Tharu communities was a blow to the rights and dignity of these communities.

The parties clarified that they decided take to part in the election for premiership as they were not against all the contents of the new constitution.

NMSP and the MJF-R said they opposed the contents of the new constitution to the extent it reversed the provisions of the Interim Constitution. “We took part in the voting against the alliance of Maale, Masale and Mandale as that weakened nationalism and national integrity,” the two parties said in the release and added that people should not misinterpret their participation. The parties have urged sympathisers to continue struggling for their rights.
