No clue about ex-cop abducted a year ago

Rajbiraj, November 14:

The whereabouts of former police constable Rajkumar Tamang who was abducted a year ago by JTMM-J cadres are still unknown.

Tamang, a resident of Rajbiraj-7, was abducted by JTMM (J) cadres on Mangshir 7 last year while he was going to Kunauli bazaar, a bordering Indian town, to purchase goods.

Tamang’s wife Mina said the abductors had asked Rs 1 lakh ransom over the telephone the day after his abduction.

“We provided them Rs 25,000 after four days by depositing our land in a bank when they said that they would release my husband even at Rs 25,000,” she said.

But they breached the words and did not release him, a tearful Mina said.

In Tamang’s absence, the family could not draw his pension last year. Mina said the family is going through a hard time due to financial problems.

“We knocked the doors of human right activists and home minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula to facilitate his release but to no avail,” said Kumari, Tamang’s elder daughter.

Kumari suspects that her father might have already been killed, as the JTMM (J) had once informed them that he escaped from their capture.

With tearful eyes, Kumari urged all organisations concerned to find out his whereabouts and facilitate for his safe release.
